On October 16, 2026, The Smashing Pumpkins released the official music video for their track “Black Stars” from the Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping Soundtrack album.

The origins of the song “Black Stars” dates back to a period when frontman Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan was working on a solo album and The Smashing Pumpkins received an invitation to contribute an original song to The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. For the recording, Corgan brought in producer Butch Vig to help select the song that best complemented the world of The Hunger Games.

MCA Records releases The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping The Soundtrack Album on November 13, 2026, including a variety of retailer exclusive collectible packages. The vinyl edition of the soundtrack spans two LPs, showcasing the music inspired by the film in an elevated format designed for both fans and vinyl enthusiasts. Each package features premium packaging and eye-catching artwork. Composer James Newton Howard, who has scored every prior Hunger Games film, returns for Sunrise on the Reaping.

Directed by Francis Lawrence and based on the dystopian Suzanne Collins novel, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is the sixth film in The Hunger Games franchise. The movie stars Joseph Zada, Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Mckenna Grace, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak and Kelvin Harrison Jr., and is released in movie theaters on November 20, 2026, through Lionsgate.
