Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is re-released in movie theaters on October 2, 2026. AMC Theatres and select Regal Cinemas locations begin screenings on October 2nd, with the Cinemark chain hosting a limited theatrical run starting October 16th.
Originally released in 1993, the stop-motion animation favorite centers on the character Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, as he grows tired of his familiar holiday routine. After stumbling into Christmas Town, Jack becomes determined to take over Christmas, drawing Sally, Oogie Boogie, and the residents of Halloween Town into his unusual plan.
Henry Selick directed The Nightmare Before Christmas, based on a story and characters created by Tim Burton. Danny Elfman wrote the songs and score while also providing Jack Skellington’s singing voice. The voice cast also includes Chris Sarandon, Catherine O’Hara, William Hickey, Glenn Shadix, Paul Reubens, Ken Page, Edward Ivory, Susan McBride, Debi Durst and Greg Proops.
