The Richard Kelly horror film Donnie Darko celebrates 25 years of mind-bending mayhem with a stunning 4K presentation. In the film the titular character Donnie Darko doesn’t get along with his family, teachers, or classmates, but finds a kindred spirit in Gretchen and guidance from a compassionate psychiatrist who believes hypnosis may unlock hidden truths. Meanwhile, Donnie is haunted by Frank, a mysterious giant bunny only he can see. After a jet engine crashes into his bedroom and narrowly misses him, Donnie is drawn into a series of increasingly strange events that seem governed by forces beyond explanation.

This special anniversary release also includes an exclusive introduction with writer and director Richard Kelly exploring the film’s enduring legacy, how it captivated audiences for 25 years, and why it remains one of the defining cult classics of the new millennium.

Originally released in movie theaters on October 26, 2001, the film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Donnie Darko, along with Holmes Osborne, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Daveigh Chase, Mary McDonnell, James Duval, Arthur Taxier, Patrick Swayze, Mark Hoffman, David St. James, Tom Tangen, Jazzie Mahannah, Jolene Purdy, Stuart Stone, Gary Lundy, Alex Greenwald, Beth Grant, Jena Malone, Seth Rogen, David Moreland, Noah Wyle, Drew Barrymore, Kristina Malota, Marina Malota Darling, Carly Naples, Tiler Peck and Patience Cleveland.
