Universal Pictures Reveals Official Title and Release Date for The Mummy 4 Reboot
On October 15, 2026, Universal Pictures revealed the official title and a title treatment on the official Instagram for The Mummy 4, which will be titled The Mummy: Book of the Dead. Producers of the film – which has a release date in exactly one year from the announcement, on October 15, 2027 – have chosen the directing duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett to helm the project and they will be working from a script written by David Coggeshall. The pair previously partnered on the horror films Ready or Not, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Abigail and Scream VI, which means The Mummy: Book of the Dead should lean firmly towards a mix of gory horror and dark comedy, in line with previous editions of the franchise.
Based on the official Instagram account for the movie, which includes the tagline “Rick and Evie return in The Mummy: Book of the Dead,” the film will indeed see the return of Brendan Fraser as Rick O’Connell and Rachel Weisz as Evelyn Carnahan. The sequel also stars Michael Johnston, Oded Fehr, John Hannah, Kevin J. O’Connor, Numan Acar and Clark John Dawson.
