On November 2, 2026, Interscope Records celebrates the 40th Anniversary of ’80s crime thriller To Live and Die in L.A. with a 2-LP Deluxe Edition of the movie’s soundtrack, with a pressing on Opaque Orange “L.A. Sunset” Vinyl. The Deluxe Edition track listing has been re-sequenced with vocal tracks and instrumental tracks interspersed similar to how they flow throughout the film, creating a cinematic listening experience.

The track listing includes 2 songs from Wang Chung’s 1984 breakthrough album Point on the Curve, “Dance Hall Days” and “Wait,” which were both featured in the film. “Dance Hall Days” was not included in the original soundtrack release. Also included is the instrumental track, “This One’s for You, White Boy” which makes its commercial debut on this vinyl release.

The second vinyl disc features bonus tracks, including extended and instrumental mixes of the theme song “To Live and Die in L.A.,” along with extended mixes of “Wake Up Stop Dreaming,” and “Wait.” The disc also features a 4-minute edit of “City of Angels” and rarity “Nervous Mix – B-Side” of the song.

As an added bonus, 2 demo songs recorded in 1985, “Joy” and “So Cold” are included. These songs did not end up being used in the film and have never been released prior to this pressing.

The soundtrack Wang Chung created at the personal request of director William Friedkin is one of those rare times when the film and its soundtrack elevate each other, creating a truly classic ’80s masterpiece.

To Live and Die in L.A. tells the story of Secret Service agent Richard Chance (William Petersen), who becomes obsessed with catching an artist who moonlights as a ruthless counterfeiter Eric Masters (Willem Dafoe). The stakes are raised after Chance’s partner is murdered by Masters during the investigation. Directed by the legendary William Friedkin based on the novel by Gerald Petievich, To Live and Die in L.A. also stars John Pankow, Debra Feuer, John Turturro, Darlanne Fluegel, Dean Stockwell, Steve James, Robert Downey Sr., Michael Greene, Christopher Allport, Jack Hoar, Valentin de Vargas, Dwier Brown, Michael Chong and Jacqueline Giroux.
