Halloween Horror Nights officially launched at Universal Studios Hollywood in October of 1997. The event received many of its cues from the Universal Orlando original and ran through the 2000 season initially. From 2001 until 2005, Halloween Horror Nights went on hiatus at Universal Studios Hollywood, then returned in 2006 and has continued yearly since that year.
