On October 29, 2026, filmmaker Curry Barker, who wrote, directed and edited the viral horror hit Obsession, uploaded a 5-minute free horror short on YouTube titled “Mama Bear.” The format is something very close to Barker. After the grassroots success of his 2024 YouTube short film Milk & Serial, his follow-up feature film Obsession premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, igniting a Hollywood studio bidding war that closed for approximately $15 million.

Mama Bear stars Jon Lee Richardson, Katie Sarife, Ericka Kreuz and Joshua Snyder. The film begins with a young man who appears to work for a cleaning company, that’s sleeping on a couch. The man is suddenly awakened by a disturbing phone call from a friend, who incoherently claims that a woman wants to kill him. From that point, the short takes a horrific and drastic turn. You can watch the entire project below and see for yourself how the horror film develops.
