As Los Angeles prepares to welcome George Lucas and his wife Mellody Hobson’s Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which opens on September 22, 2026, one of its distinguished landmarks readies its own narrative art exhibition. The iconic Millennium Biltmore, whose gilded halls first conceived the Academy Awards, plays host to the Icon Comic and Narrative Art exhibition on November 7th and 8th, 2026.

To understand the prestige of having a comic art exhibit at a venue such as The Biltmore, one needs to fully embrace the hotel’s legacy. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was founded at a luncheon banquet in the Biltmore’s Crystal Ballroom in May 1927. Guests including MGM co-founder Louis B. Mayer met to discuss plans for the new organization and presenting achievement awards to colleagues in their industry. Legend has it that MGM art director Cedric Gibbons, who was in attendance, grabbed a linen Biltmore napkin and sketched the design for the Oscar statue on it. Eight Oscar ceremonies were also held in the Biltmore Bowl during the Academy’s early years, beginning in 1931.

The hotel has hosted Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, nine U.S. presidents, and the Beatles at the height of their fame, a hotel with the gravity to match the icons who gather within it.

Beginning on November 7th, 2026, a set of distinguished artists from the world of comic books have their work hang along the hotel’s hallowed Beaux-Arts halls, with its crystal chandeliers and Giovanni Smeraldi hand-painted ceilings. The exhibition, which has been traveling to a variety of locations leading up to the Biltmore takeover, was organized by the team behind the Lake Como Comic Art Festival – which takes place in Lake Como, Italy – and Hawaii Comic Art – which occurs yearly on Kona, Hawaii. Those credentials seem to indicate a crew with a good deal of experience having art exhibitions in high-end luxurious locales.

Participating artists for the Icon Comic and Narrative Art exhibition include Ace Continuado, Alex Nino, Bill Sienkiewicz, Bill Stout, Cat Staggs, Dan Panosian, Daniel Warren Johnson, Dave Johnson, David Mack, Dean Yeagle, Dustin Nguyen, Eric Basaldua, Frank Cho, Jim Cheung, Megan Huang, Nick Dragotta, Ryan Ottley, Sanford Greene and Alex Ross, with additional artists to be announced as of September 11, 2026.

Prices for the two-day exhibition start at $75 for a Sunday Pass and increase to $225 for a Weekend Pass, which includes Saturday & Sunday admission, the festival poster, and a collector’s swag bag. A special $375 VIP Pass is also available, which includes admission to a VIP Opening Reception on Friday night, November 6th, admission to a Special Saturday Night Event, and an ICON Angel Lithograph Print signed by seminal artist Alex Ross, along with everything the Weekend Pass offers.
