In 2006, Guillermo del Toro took moviegoers into a labyrinth where fairy tales bare their teeth. The Academy Award-winning masterpiece Pan’s Labyrinth returns to theaters remastered in 4K, and for the first time in 3D.

Set in 1944 Spain, as fascist forces tighten their grip after the Civil War, young Ofelia is uprooted to a remote outpost ruled by her cruel stepfather. When she discovers a hidden labyrinth and a mysterious faun who claims she’s a lost princess, she’s given three dangerous tasks to reclaim a throne that may or may not be real. What follows is one of cinema’s most haunting explorations of innocence, resistance and the power of imagination in the face of unimaginable darkness.

The faun’s creatures, the crumbling grandeur of that stone labyrinth, del Toro’s impossible, dreamlike detail — every frame was made to be seen this way.

Written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, Pan’s Labyrinth stars Ivana Baquero, Sergi López, Maribel Verdú, Doug Jones, Ariadna Gil, Álex Angulo, Manolo Solo, César Vea, Roger Casamajor, Ivan Massagué, Gonzalo Uriarte, Eusebio Lázaro, Francisco Vidal and Juanjo Cucalón.
