The Coolidge Corner Theatre hosts its 25th annual Halloween Horror Marathon, featuring screenings of The Mummy (1959) and The Mummy’s Shroud (1967), plus five more classic horror films. The event also includes a costume contest, trailers from the Coolidge Crypt, and a 35mm shorts program.

The Mummy takes place in 1895, centering on British archaeologists who find and open the tomb of Egyptian Princess Ananka with nefarious consequences. Directed by Terence Fisher from a script by Jimmy Sangster, The Mummy stars Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Yvonne Furneaux, Eddie Byrne, Felix Aylmer, Raymond Huntley, George Pastell, Michael Ripper, George Woodbridge, Harold Goodwin, Denis Shaw, Gerald Lawson, Willoughby Gray and John Stuart.

The Mummy’s Shroud takes place in 1920 when an archaeological expedition discovers the tomb of an ancient Egyptian child prince. Returning home with their discovery, expedition members soon find themselves being killed off by a mummy, which can be revived by reading the words off the prince’s burial shroud.

Co-written and directed by John Gilling, The Mummy’s Shroud stars André Morell, John Phillips, David Buck, Elizabeth Sellars, Maggie Kimberly, Michael Ripper, Tim Barrett, Richard Warner, Roger Delgado, Catherine Lacey, Dickie Owen, Eddie Powell and Andreas Malandrinos.
