The mission of Burning Man is to facilitate and extend the culture that has emerged from the annual event into the larger world. The hub of this global network is the non-profit Burning Man Project, headquartered in San Francisco, California.

The official Burning Man Festival takes place in the temporarily-erected Black Rock City, located in the desert near Gerlach, Nevada.
