Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing, release Darwyn Cooke’s The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition in October 2025. The edition collects the series in one place for the first time ever in an oversized format. The release also marks the first Connoisseur Edition, a deluxe hardcover format being printed as part of Skybound and Act 4’s publishing partnership. The Act 4-developed format features a slipcase and premium finishing, collecting a complete comic book series in an oversized, readable format.

The oversized hardcover 9 x 13.5 inch edition is designed by Sean Phillips, who also oversaw the Eisner Award-winning Richard Stark’s Parker: The Martini Edition – Last Call, to which this book is a companion in size and scope. J. Bone, Cooke’s long-time collaborator, provides an introduction.

Also included in this definitive version of Cooke’s The Spirit is a gallery featuring all of the DC covers, two variant covers from a Rocketeer/The Spirit crossover, along with several never-before-seen drawings. The book collects DC Comics The Spirit #1-6 and #8-12, with J. Bone inking and Dave Stewart coloring, and DC’s Batman/The Spirit one-shot, written by Jeph Loeb.

Darwyn Cooke’s The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition is available at comic book shops on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and at booksellers, along with digital platforms such as Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Future releases within the Skybound/Act 4 Publishing partnership include J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl Artist Edition, Dave Stevens’ Covers and Stories Connoisseur Edition, Jason Pearson’s Body Bags Artist’s Edition, Paul Smith’s Leave It to Chance Artist’s Edition, and EC Comics Artist’s Editions.
