Cinephobia Releasing acquired North American and UK Rights to director Marcel Walz’s (Brute 1976, Anathema) and writer Joe Knetter’s (Twilight of the Dead, The Caretaker) latest feature Brute 1986, the sequel to the 2025 slasher horror Brute 1976. The deal came just ahead of the film’s World Premiere during the 2026 Tubi FrightFest Halloween on October 31, 2026 at the Odeon Luxe West End London theater in the United Kingdom.

While Brute 1976 was an homage to ’70s horror classics The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes, Brute 1986 honors the new decade’s beloved exploitation slashers like Friday the 13th and Maniac, all set to a glam rock soundtrack including original music by Crazy Lixx. Adding to the ’80s-inspired atmosphere, Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel appears in the movie and contributes original music to its soundtrack, helping give Brute 1986 its glam-metal edge.

Following the shocking events of the original film, Brute 1986 begins a decade later with fictional glam metal band Leather Kobra, who are set to begin shooting their latest music video in an abandoned Western town. Unfortunately for the band and their crew, the ultra-violent Birdy family has taken up residence nearby. When their paths cross, their video shoot devolves into a night of terror and bloodshed.

Returning cast from the original film include Dazelle Yvette (Brute 1976), Sarah French (Garden of Eden), and Gigi Gustin (Stiletto). They are joined by the previously mentioned Bill Kaulitz from the band Tokio Hotel (Netflix’s Kaulitz & Kaulitz), Pancho Moler (3 From Hell), Sarah Kaplan (Slasher.com), Heather Grace Hancock (Wicked City), and Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects). Rounding out the cast are Jed Rowen, Joey Jupiter- Levin, Mark Justice, Matt Wiggins, Ryan James, Ramiro Leal, James Preston, Scotch Hopkins and Bishop Stevens.

The 2026 Tubi FrightFest Halloween takes place over two days on October 30th and 31st, featuring a total of nine horror film premieres from around the world.
