Game developer Thirdverse launches a collaboration between X8, the VR multiplayer hero shooter, and Contra: Operation Galuga, published by Konami Digital Entertainment. This major update launches December 12, 2024.

In the collaboration game, players can step into the roles of Bill and Lance as they face off against the formidable “Red Falcon” in a 360-degree VR world, battling waves of oncoming enemies. Along with the classic weapon power-ups that define the Contra series, players can experience special attacks through the “Overload” feature introduced in Contra: Operation Galuga. Fighting as Bill and Lance, dodging a relentless barrage of bullets from all directions, players are fully immersed in the world of Contra.

Collaboration Storyline: Heroes Unite Against a Common Foe

In this unique crossover, the rogue AI “Index” seeks to expand its influence beyond X8’s digital domain by targeting the game Contra. After gathering data on Bill and Lance, the heroes of “Contra,” Index creates millions of replicas of these iconic characters; the purpose is to make them fight in arenas to train and perfect its system. However, “Glitches” of Bill and Lance – replicas with programming errors – retain their original identities and consciousness, much like other heroes within the digital realm of X8.

To expand the reach of the collaboration with Contra: Operation Galuga, X8 Contra: Super Wall Storm, will launch on December 12, 2024 as a new app on the Meta Store, and will feature all the adds-on of the collaboration.
