Six Flags Corporation

Six Flags America in Bowie, Maryland permanently closes following its 2025 operating season on November 2, 2025.

When Six Flags merged with Cedar Fair amusements in 2024, the company conducted a portfolio review of the combined company’s 56 amusement and water parks, announcing in May of 2025 that Six Flags America and its companion water park – Hurricane Harbor Maryland – would permanently close at the end of 2025.

Fans, former employees and their families were invited to gather at the theme park from August 15-17, 2025 for a “Farewell Reunion Weekend,” an event not officially organized by the Six Flags company.

The Six Flags property may still be home to an amusement park in the future, since local officials are interested in another amusement park replacing it. Soon after the original closure announcement, a press release indicated that the park would be marketed for redevelopment.
