Restored Version of Robot Monster 3D Comes to Blu-ray and DVD
Blu-ray Releases, DVD Releases | Jul 25, 2023
Bayview Entertainment is commemorating the 70th anniversary of Robot Monster, the most demented, delirious and delightful Golden Age 3-D sci-fi classic with a restored, out-of-this-world showcase edition from the 3-D Film Archive. Both region-free Blu-ray and DVD versions feature more than two hours of bonus materials including audio commentary, specially produced featurettes, a new interview with star Greg Moffett, a newly restored Golden Age of 3-D Comic Book, anaglyphic 3-D glasses and much more.
A cosmic catastrophe has wiped out humanity, and now the last six survivors must outwit that strangely iconic alien menace, Ro-Man (George Barrows). Taking orders from the pitiless Great Guidance, Ro-Man wavers in his pursuit of human annihilation when he falls in love with a girl (Claudia Barrett). Can dashing young Roy (George Nader) save her? Independently photographed in less than a week on location in Bronson Canyon, the Tru-Stereo photography is comparable to the major studio 3-D productions of the time.
To mark the milestone 70th anniversary of this sci-fi classic, the 3-D version of Robot Monster has been painstakingly and masterfully restored from complete 35mm archival 3-D elements by the archivists at the 3-D Film Archive, the leading experts in vintage stereoscopic film restoration. Now Ro-Man can be viewed as director Phil Tucker intended – in Tru-Stereo Three Dimension.
The Robot Monster Blu-ray restoration is presented in both BD-3D for those with the necessary equipment, and compatible anaglyphic 3-D which will play on any system, along with a standard 2-D edition. One pair of red/cyan anaglyphic glasses is included with each package.
Directed by Phil Tucker, Robot Monster stars George Nader, Claudia Barrett, Selena Royle, John Mylong, Gregory Moffett, Pamela Paulson, George Barrows and John Brown.
