The Avi Arad-created superhero television series Mutant X centers on a fugitive geneticist and four of his “creations” that search for others of their kind while attempting to stay a step ahead of a morally ambiguous government agent. The members of Mutant X were used as test subjects in a series of covert government experiments. Their mission was to seek out and protect their fellow new mutants. The series was filmed in Toronto, Canada and debuted in first-run syndication on October 6, 2001.

The series stars Victoria Pratt, Forbes March, Victor Webster, John Shea, Lauren Lee Smith, Tom McCamus, Karen Cliche, George Buza, Andrew Gillies and Michael Easton.

Even though Mutant X was very popular, the show was abruptly cancelled in 2004 after one of it’s production companies, Fireworks Entertainment, shuttered. This left the ending of the series with an unresolved cliffhanger.
