On September 16, 2025, Insight Editions releases a scale model replica of the Ornithopter that was seen in the Denis Villeneuve films Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two, as well as the HBO Max television series Dune: Prophecy.

The Ornithopter is the most capable airborne craft in the Imperium, built for basic transportation tasks, search-and-rescue missions, and combat operations. The Ornithopter is used to deliver troops on to the surface of Arrakis and is ready to fire on the Harkonnens’ enemies from the skies.

Dune director Denis Villeneuve based the Ornithopter vehicles on author Frank Herbert’s original descriptions, visualising them as huge mechanical dragonflies. Ensuring accuracy, this model is based on the original VFX files created for the films and features the Ornithopter in “flight” mode, with landing gear raised and guns deployed.

Evoking the Ornithopters in the film Dune, this 10.5-inch-long replica was digitally sculpted before being manufactured in die-cast metal, then detailed with high-quality ABS materials.
