IFC Center hosts a retrospective screening series featuring profoundly influential Hong Kong films that launched Chow Yun-fat and Tony Leung Chiu-wa into international stardom. Spanning the boom years of Hong Kong cinema from the mid-1980s through the early 90s, Hong Kong Cinema Classics features 11 essential, long-unavailable movies from legendary directors John Woo, Tsui Hark, Ringo Lam, and Ching Siu-tung.

The screenings are presented in 4K restorations with updated English translations. These stories of cops and criminals, Chinese opera, and supernatural forces showcase one of the most explosively inventive eras in modern filmmaking.

The Hong Kong Cinema Classics program is presented by Shout! Factory and GKIDS.
