Heavy Metal Launches Kickstarter to Relaunch Iconic Magazine Brand

Fundraisers | Nov 25 - Dec 29, 2024

On November 25, 2024, Heavy Metal Editor-In-Chief Frank Forte announced a Kickstarter campaign to help relaunch the iconic illustrated fantasy magazine Heavy Metal. The request invites fans to dive into the weird, forbidden worlds of past, present, and future, in order to discover sci-fi, fantasy, and horror “like you’ve never seen before.”

The Kickstarter campaign includes all-new variant, limited edition, and metal covers, along with apparel and other rewards to be announced.

Since 1977, Heavy Metal has represented the gold standard for groundbreaking sci-fi, fantasy, and horror comics. The brand relaunches with a new first issue and they have invited fans to be part of the next chapter in its history.

On April 1, 1977, Heavy Metal #1 hit newsstands around the world. In the 47 years since, the Heavy Metal brand became notorious for its mind-bending visuals, controversial content, and a global pool of artistic innovators – including Moebius, Druillet, Liberatore, Wrightson, Steranko, Corben, Suydam, Bilal, Voss, Caza, Chaykin, and many more – who defined what science fiction and fantasy storytelling could be.
