On Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 7pm, actor, producer, and director Goldie Hawn visits the David Geffen Theater at The Academy Museum for a conversation and screening of the 1974 film The Sugarland Express in Dolby Vision.

Hawn handpicked this “based on a true story” film as one of her career favorites. The Sugarland Express tells the story of a young couple who kidnaps a police officer after being flagged for a minor traffic infraction and drives for hundreds of miles across East Texas. Filmmaker Steven Spielberg captures the spirit of the story while giving it the flavor of the era’s countercultural road movies in his debut theatrical feature.
