On July 18, 2018, Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and The Wasp debuted in the 4DX with ScreenX format at the Pathé Beaugrenelle multiplex cinema. The opening marks the first European 4DX with ScreenX-equipped theater in Europe and is located at Beaugrenelle shopping mall in Paris. The ScreenX location is a result of a partnership between leading theatrical exhibition company Les Cinémas Pathé Gaumont and 4D technology innovator CJ 4DPLEX. The theater is situated in the center of Paris in the 15th arrondissement on the banks of the Seine River and near the Eiffel Tower.
ScreenX is a panoramic film format that presents movies with expanded, dual-sided, 270-degree screens projected on the walls in a theater. First introduced in 2012, it is Co-developed by CJ 4DPLEX, a subsidiary of the CJ CGV group, and KAIST. The firms also created the 4DX motion-theater technology, known as Ultra 4DX.
