Puente Hills Mall in City of Industry, California, is notable for serving as the filming location for the Twin Pines/Lone Pine Mall in the 1985 cult classic sci-fi comedy film Back to the Future starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.
The Mall opened in phases over the course of a year, from February 1974 through Spring 1975, after completion of the Pomona Freeway racetrack a few years earlier. The Broadway, the first anchor to open inside Puente Hills Mall, opened its doors on February 18, 1974, with three levels and 160,000 square feet. J.W. Robinson’s followed, opening in March. JCPenney opened on April 16, 1975.
Puente Hills Mall was developed by The Hahn Company and, as of 2023, was owned by Kam Sang Company.
