Arrow Video Launches Arrow Player Streaming Platform Focusing on Cult Cinema
TV Network and Streaming Launches | Feb 1, 2021
On July 23, 2020, Arrow Video purchased the domain name arrow-player.com for what would soon become an over-the-top subscription streaming service focused on curated cult movies from around the world. On February 1st of the following year, Arrow Video launched the Arrow Video Player, featuring an array of cult favorites, international horror imports, and under-seen classics.
As of 2024, Arrow Video’s service is available in the UK, the US, Ireland and Canada. A variety of iconic splatter-fests, shocking classics, and martial arts action triumphs have passed through the company’s streaming library. A sampling of those films have included Hideo Nakata’s original Ring movies and the ghost story Dark Water, the Hellraiser trilogy, Dario Argento’s Tenebrae, Phenomena, and The Bird With The Crystal Plumage, plus Takashi Miike’s Audition and zombie musical The Happiness Of The Katakuris. At various points in it’s history, you would’ve found Park Chan-wook’s Oldboy and his war movie JSA – Joint Security Area, essential favorites such as Heathers, Donnie Darko, Battle Royale and Cinema Paradiso, a stack of Lars Von Trier films including Melancholia, Antichrist, and both parts of Nymphomaniac, Alejandro Jodorowsky’s The Holy Mountain, anthology flick Wild Tales, Peter Strickland’s Berberian Sound Studio, Korean action epic The Villainess, and many other titles.
Arrow Player is considered a subscription-based video on-demand service, rather than generating its revenue from commercial breaks and advertising.
