AMC Theatres announced an Opening Night Fan Event for Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s zombie thriller 28 Years Later on their Instagram page, along with a screenshot of an exclusive collectible art print that is being given away during the June 19, 2025 event. The post also mentions that the limited-edition print is Part 1 of a set. Part 2 is being released when a sequel film directed by Nia DaCosta, titled 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, is released in movie theaters on January 16, 2026.
Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle and Oscar-nominated writer Alex Garland reunite for 28 Years Later, a new “auteur horror” story set in the world created by 28 Days Later. It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated the infected along with survivors.
28 Years Later is officially released in theaters the day after the Opening Night Fan Event, on June 20, 2025, starring Jack O’Connell, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Comer, Emma Laird, Erin Kellyman, Kim Allan, Edvin Ryding, Alfie Williams, Robert Rhodes, Gordon Alexander, Chi Lewis-Parry, Christopher Fulford, Joe Blakemore and Maura Bird.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple continues the zombie outbreak story, starting when a messenger on a bicycle awakens from a coma. As of now, The Bone Temple brings back cast members Ralph Fiennes, Emma Laird and Alfie Williams. The film also adds newcomer Natalie Cousteau to the series.
