Total Recall 2070 is a cable television series that ran on the Showtime Network for a single season in 1999. The show premiered on January 5, 1999 and ran for 22 episodes. Loosely based on the short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by author Philip K. Dick, Total Recall 2070 centers on a detective for a police agency who is teamed with a naive new officer. What the veteran officer doesn’t know is that the new “officer” is secretly an android, and often conflicts with the Assessor’s Office and the security forces of “the Consortium”, a small number of extremely powerful companies.
Total Recall 2070 was shot in Toronto, Ontario and was a Canadian/German co-production. Art Monterastelli created the series, which shared no major plot points or characters with the original Philip K. Dick story, other than the Rekall company and the concept of virtual vacations. Instead, a much larger influence, especially the show’s visual style, has been sited as the 1982 film Blade Runner, itself a loose adapted from Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?.
The cast of Total Recall 2070 includes Michael Easton, Karl Pruner, Cynthia Preston, Michael Anthony Rawlins, Judith Krant, Matthew Bennett, Damon D’Oliveira, John Bekavac, Peter Firth, Paulino Nunes, Kevin Jubinville, Victoria Snow, Kevin Hare and Anne Marie DeLuise.
