Filmmaker Ryan Watson’s HBCU-set martial arts film Paper Made, starring Michael Jai White (Black Dynamite, Spawn, Blood and Bone, The Dark Knight), Walter Jones (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, House Party [2023]), Taimak (The Last Dragon, Dreamers, Repeat Offenders: Jamais Vu), Marrese Crump (The Protector 2, Welcome to Sudden Death, Jiu Jitsu, Sultan), Myles Truitt (Dragged Across Concrete, Kin, The New Edition Story, Stranger Things), and Kayla Becker (WWE Smackdown, Stranglehold), has its World Premiere screening during the 2026 edition of the Urban Action Showcase at Regal Times Square in New York City on November 14, 2026. Michael Jai White, Taimak and Marrese Crump attend the screening of the film, which was shot in Tampa, Florida during March of 2026.

Ahead of the World Premiere, writer and director Watson confirmed that at least two of the film’s cast – Taimak and Walter Jones – are scheduled to attend the 20th Anniversary edition of New York Comic-Con at Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City, from October 8 through 11. The actors appear at Booth 2373 for poster signings and photo ops related to Paper Made.

Paper Made centers on a defiant college student attending an HBCU who becomes involved in a severe hazing incident that threatens his academic standing. The event leads the young man to reluctantly pledge a secret fraternity of Black martial artists, forcing him to confront his ego, legacy and the true meaning of brotherhood. Ryan Watson directed Paper Made from a script he co-wrote with Jerron Horton. The cast also includes Daria Rae Berenato, Nakia Burrise, Evan Gibbons, Jaden Lucas Miller, Derek Delafonte, Zephaniah Terry, Sam Lee Herring, Paul Fratus, Mara Sadè, Jair Muhammad, Rabon Hutcherson, Quartay DeNaya, Isabella Tabio and Sheryl Carbonell.

Founded by actor & stunt coordinator Demetrius Angelo, Urban Action Showcase takes place annually in New York City. The event is geared towards both entertainment fans & professionals and features a film festival, vendor fair and awards ceremony honoring the multicultural achievements in the action genre of entertainment.
