National Film Preservation Board

National Film Registry Month is celebrated in November and spotlights the year’s National Film Registry selections film screenings, panel discussions and other programs, usually at the Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation in Culpeper, Virginia as well as other locations in and around Washington, D.C. Each year the United States National Film Preservation Board (NFPB) adds up to 25 “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant films” to the National Film Registry (NFR). The selections showcase the range and diversity of American film heritage to increase awareness for its preservation. Film projects become eligible for inclusion ten years after their original release.
